Alaska’s New Double Miles Promotion

You’ve got to love Alaska’s Mileage Plan frequent flyer program. Mileage Plan is a huge part of what makes Alaska a great airline, with the being an example of Alaska’s broader commitment to making their customers feel valued, something which is lacking at other airlines. Earning miles is easy (distance-based earning!) and Alaska often launches mileage earning promotions which can be great deals.

Two days ago (I know I’m late writing about this, but I’ve had a busy couple of days), Alaska announced just such a promotion. Branded as “Twice as Nice,” Alaska is offering Mileage Plan members double redeemable miles on specific routes when crediting these flights to Alaska Mileage Plan, valid for flights between September 1, 2017, and February 28, 2018. The routes are as follows, including both Alaska and Virgin America flights:

Flights between San Francisco (SFO) and:

  • Albuquerque
  • Baltimore
  • Indianapolis
  • Kansas City
  • Kona
  • Las Vegas
  • Los Angeles
  • Mexico City
  • Minneapolis
  • Nashville
  • New Orleans
  • Orlando
  • Philadelphia
  • Raleigh-Durham
  • San Diego
  • Santa Ana

Flights between San Jose (SJC) and:

  • Austin
  • Burbank
  • Los Angeles
  • San Diego
  • Santa Ana
  • Tucson

Flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and:

  • Dallas – Love Field
  • Las Vegas
  • Mexico City
  • Philadelphia
  • San Francisco
  • San Jose

Flights between San Diego (SAN) and:

  • Albuquerque
  • Austin
  • Baltimore
  • Kansas City
  • Mexico City
  • Minneapolis
  • Omaha
  • Sacramento
  • San Jose
  • San Francisco
  • St. Louis

Flights between Orange County (SNA) and:

  • Albuquerque
  • San Francisco
  • San Jose
  • Santa Rosa

Flights between Portland (PDX) and:

  • Albuquerque
  • Baltimore
  • Detroit
  • Milwaukee
  • New York – JFK
  • Philadelphia

You must register for the promotion on the Alaska Airlines website either before your flight or before January 31, 2018, though doesn’t matter when you book so long as you’re travelling within the date range. Furthermore, you can’t earn double elite qualifying miles with this promotion, though Alaska is already being obscenely generous and I don’t really expect them to.

Alaska Mileage Plan is simply an incredible program, and this promotion is so massively generous that I can’t help but say that it’s more than I could ever have AS’ked for. All horrible puns aside, I’m super excited about this promotion and look forward to taking advantage of it in the future.
