Did you know that US Airways began its life under the name All American Airways in 1939? All American changed their name to Allegheny Airlines in 1953, Allegheny becoming one of the largest carriers in the Northeast. Aspiring to become a national carrier, Allegheny changed its name to USAir in 1979 following airline deregulation. USAir became US Airways in 1997.
